Join Us for a Virtual Encounter with the Muses!

The 4th Annual James M. May Lecture in Classics (postponed from last year) will be delivered online by John F. Miller, Arthur F. and Marian W. Stocker Professor of Classics at the University of Virginia, on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 7 p.m. CDT.

Contesting Muses  
Professor Miller will explore how the ancient poet Ovid stages the strange scenario of the Muses disagreeing with one another and how a Renaissance Latin imitator resolves the difficulty.

This virtual event, free and open to the public, will be streamed live and hosted by St. Olaf Classics professors Anne Groton and James May. There will be time for Q&A from attendees.
