SPECIAL EVENTS

DINNER AND A MASK: On Thursday evening from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. complimentary shuttle service via private chartered coach will provide access to the downtown pubs and restaurants. The historic area of downtown Gainesville on Thursday night is one of the places to be. The busses will depart from the Holiday Inn West and from downtown on the half hour. The downtown eateries will give drinking and dining discounts. A list of the establishments participating in this "Dine Around" will be available at registration. After dinner, do not miss "The Mask":  at 8:00 p.m. in the McKenzie Hall of the Sweetwater Branch Inn, William Hall will present "Masks: Mystery, Power, and Revelation." In this unique workshop, William Hall will demonstrate the power and effect of masks in tragedy and comedy. Hall, founder of Bay Area Theater Sports, is an actor of stage, film, and improvisational theater. He has worked with masks for over 20 years. The workshop is free, but since space is limited to 100 participants, you must reserve a complimentary ticket on the conference registration form. Sponsored by the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, the Center for Greek Studies, the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, and the Rothman Fund..
