Mores et Modi:
Practices and Methods

Sherwin D. Little (Indian Hill High School, OH)

No one methodology works for every class in every school. The best teachers make choices about the methods used based on their knowledge of their students and the needs of their program. This part of the panel helps teachers assess how goals of their program can be met by the various methodologies, not the other way around. I will give a few examples of how we adapt a textbook series to fit the individual goals of our Latin program. I will give examples of how assessments can be modified to help teachers meet the program goals. No teacher should feel trapped by the textbook series they chose, or the one chosen for them.
