The Society for the Oral Reading of Greek and Latin Literature (SORGLL) invites you to a Round-Table Reading of Vergil's Aeneid, Book I, Thursday, April 2, 8:00-10:00 p.m., in the Marriott (Lake Nokomis Room). In the tradition of Dr. Gareth Morgan, participants will sit in a circle, each in turn reading a 5-10 line segment of the Aeneid in Latin. Diverse pronunciations welcomed! Make the case for the pronunciation YOU prefer by giving a juicy, interesting reading in that pronunciation! Texts of the Aeneid will be provided in prepared notebooks, in large, clear type, with macrons and illustrations. Although we are hoping to hear Latin from everyone, Dr. Stanley Lombardo's translation is given on facing pages, for those who prefer to read in English. Mark Miner will host. Feel free to call him (404-660-8205) if you would like to meet with him earlier on Thursday to polish your hexameters. Please make time in your busy CAMWS schedule to relax and enjoy Vergil's magical hexameters AS POETRY.
