Steven Douglas Strauss

Steve Strauss, 52, of Toledo, passed away on July 20, 2018, while on vacation at his family summer home in Amagansett, Long Island.

Educated as a lawyer, Steve chose instead to follow his passion for Latin and the classics. He taught at Notre Dame Academy for over 20 years and will be remembered by colleagues and students as a dedicated educator and caring mentor.

Family and friends loved Steve for his compassion, kindness, boundless intellect, great wit, and enthusiasm for art, music, design, history, cuisine, literature, and travel. Steve's life was rich with curiosity, adventure, learning, and love; it has ended with gentle peace and dignity. He will be immeasurably missed.

Steve's greatest love was for his wife, Christine Fox, and children, Christopher and Anne Fox-Strauss (all of Toledo). He is also survived by his mother, Lois Strauss (New Jersey). The family will celebrate Steve's life in a private ceremony; no public service will be held.

In Steve's honor and in lieu of other remembrances, a memorial fund has been established:
