Diane Hatch

Dr. Diane Hatch, Professor Emerita of Classics, passed away on Saturday morning, October 13, she was 76.  Dr. Hatch began teaching Latin and Classics at Mary Washington College in 1966. Her undergraduate degree was from Sweet Briar College and she received her M.A. and her Ph.D from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.  With Dr. Elizabeth Clark, Diane co-edited The Golden Bough, The Oaken Cross: the Virgilian Cento of Faltonia Betitia Proba.  She and Dr. Clark were founding members of UMW’s current Department of Classics, Philosophy, and Religion.  Dr. Diane Hatch retired from UMW in 2000 after over 30 years of dedicated teaching and service to the University.  For further information, please contact the Department of Classics, Philosophy, and Religion  https://cas.umw.edu/clpr/.  (This notice taken from https://eagleeye.umw.edu/2018/10/16/diane-hatch-and-bill-pinschmidt/)
