Frank Raispis

Francis Philip Raispis, known as “Frank,” was a native of Chicago who taught students Greek, Latin and history at his alma mater, St. Ignatius College Preparatory on the Near West Side, for over 50 years. He returned to St. Ignatius after receiving his M.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and for the next half-century he served as college counselor, language department chair, assistant principal, and the first lay principal in the school’s history. He endowed a scholarship fund and was the Farrand Baker Illinois Teacher of the Year in 1996. Following his retirement he continued to tutor and mentor students. He died on April 16, 2020 at the age of 92.
