Emily Elisabeth Batinski passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on April 22, 2022, at the age of 73. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 29,1948. Emily obtained her PhD at the University of Colorado in 1983 and became an Associate Professor of Classics at Louisiana State University, where she also served for 15 years as Chair of Foreign Languages. Her love of languages and literature combined with her affinity for teaching made her a favorite with students.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles (Chuck) Hickey, with whom she shared a love of MGB cars, Jazz Fest in New Orleans, watching movies, and beach vacations in Destin, Florida. Also survived by her brother, Michael Batinski, and nephews, Jason Crane and Peter Batinski.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents Stanley C. Batinski and Virginia L. Clemant.
