The Department of Classics at Princeton University announces a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Ancient Mediterranean Languages and Cultures to begin in Fall 2023. We seek to identify a candidate who has demonstrated exceptional promise as a scholar and teacher, whose research interests complement those already represented among department faculty, and who can help us expand and diversify our offerings, for example by adding a language to those we already teach, and/or using digital methods and resources, and/or harnessing the insights of linguistics to illuminate broader cultural issues in the study of ancient Greece, Rome, and related ancient and later cultures. Those wishing to be considered for this position are requested to submit a cover letter, a CV, a writing sample of not more than 30 pages, and the names of three referees. In the cover letter, please include discussion of your prospective contributions to expanding our departmental areas of expertise and to promoting diversity and equity within our field. These materials should be submitted online at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/apply/application.xhtml?listingId=27081.  Candidates should ask their referees to write by October 14, 2022, when review of applications will begin. We plan to conduct interviews of selected candidates on December 15th and 16th.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy.

Kind regards,
