Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the history of the ancient Mediterranean and in Greek language and literature

The Department of Classics at Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track position with an emphasis both in the history of the ancient Mediterranean and in Greek language and literature. The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to outstanding undergraduate teaching in combination with an ambitious and imaginative scholarly program. Candidates should be prepared to teach Greek and Latin at all levels and to offer engaging courses in translation, with particular responsibility for our curriculum in history. We seek applicants who can demonstrate in their letter of application a capacity for inclusive teaching and for working effectively with a population of students, staff, and faculty that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. The successful applicant is expected to have the PhD in hand by September 1, 2023. Appointment is normally made at the beginning assistant professor level.

 The deadline for receipt of applications is October 28. Applicants should submit a letter of application that explains their interest in and qualifications for the position, a curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation via Interfolio.
