Sonkowsky, Robert P. passed away peacefully at his home in North Oaks, MN Sunday November 16th 2014. He was 83 years of age. An Emeritus Professor, he taught for 40 years at the University of Minnesota. A writer and a poet, he also acted in various theaters in the Twin cities. He was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin, was a graduate of Lawrence College and received his PhD. from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Professor Sonkowsky was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Loretta Sonkowsky. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara; brother Donald (Sandy); Three children Paul (Amy Woo), Steven, Michael (Anne Bekker); five grandchildren Crystal Quarberg (Shawn), Daniel Sonkowsky, Lauren Martin (Phillip), Dominic and Gabriel Sonkowsky; great granddaughter Victoria Quarberg, Evelyn Hansen, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 22nd at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral located at 519 Oak Grove St., Minneapolis, MN at 11am, reception will follow.
