Excursion Options for CAMWS 2017

The Local Committee for CAMWS 2017 is pleased to offer the following excursion option for Saturday afternoon, April 8, 2017. Please note that there will be no paper sessions that afternoon. All excursions depart   at 1 PM from the Holiday Inn in Kitchener. Return times vary and are indicated below.

You can sign up and pay for an excursion when you register for the meeting. You can also sign up after you have registered but no later than Monday, March 27, 2017. All prices are in US dollars and all excursions are subject to sufficient participation. Please note that the legal drinking age in Ontario is 19.

St Jacobs Farmers Market
Join us as we travel from the Holiday Inn to St Jacobs Farmers Market where you will enjoy Canada's largest year-long farmer's market There you will find an enormous selection of food products for all cultures and tastes. Choose from the many vendors offerings of delicious cheeses, breads, grass-fed beef, unique gluten-free pastas, lamb from down the road, preserves from each year’s harvest and so much more. From there we will make our way to a sugar bush by horse-drawn wagon. As you travel through the tall sugar bush you will see the methods used to collect sap, learn how maple syrup is produced,  as well as see the different working methods from the past and present. As you're watching the steam rise and sipping on complimentary hot beverages with pancakes and fresh maple syrup, you will experience the culture of this area.  Please see this website for more information.  Price includes transportation to the farmers' market, ride to sugar bush in horse-drawn wagon and hot beverages and pancakes at the sugar bush. The excursion does not include the cost of any purhcases made at the farmers' market. Cost: $16 for an adult and $9 for children ages 4-12. (Ages 3 and under are free.)
