Active Latin with Justin Slocum Bailey
Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS)
Kitchener, Ontario
Saturday, April 8, 2017
Latin teachers attending the CAMWS conference are invited to attend a Teacher Training session on Active Latin with Justin Slocum Bailey on the afternoon of Saturday, April 8th. The session will provide teachers with practical, brain-friendly techniques for helping students process Latin in real time, a refined understanding of the relationship between grammar knowledge and reading proficiency, and the opportunity to hear classical Latin spoken--useful both for "activating" teachers' own Latin and as a model for speaking Latin with students.
Justin Slocum Bailey is a teacher and teacher-trainer devoted to boosting joy and success in language learning. Justin has mentored and advised hundreds of teachers and learners while consulting for schools, districts, publishers, software developers, and non-profits. His presentations and classes are characterized by glee, discovery, camaraderie, and adaptability to the interests, needs, and gifts of those present. You can find testimonials from past workshops on his website.
The session on Saturday, April 8th will run from approximately 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Professional development credit and grants are available for this event.
The registration fee is $50 and will take place at the University of Waterloo in Kitchener, Ontario following the conclusion of the CAMWS conference. The registration deadline is March 20th, 2017.
