CAMWS Policy on Choosing Sites for the Annual Meeting
CAMWS shall continue the practice of having its Annual Meeting sponsored by one or more of the local schools, colleges, or universities. (This proposal implies nothing about whether any of the meeting's sessions or events will be held on the campus of a sponsoring institution.)
Motion approved by the CAMWS Executive Committee on August 28, 2019
The following items were approved by the CAMWS Executive Committee on December 23, 2019:
1. The selection of a host institution shall be consistent with the CAMWS Code of Conduct at Meetings (camws.org/codeofconduct).
2. Henceforth CAMWS will welcome not only bids that include on-campus sessions but also bids that do not. In the guidelines given to potential hosts, language to the following effect shall be inserted: “The preferred format for the Annual Meeting includes holding all sessions on Friday afternoon on the campus of the host institution. In your invitation to CAMWS, you should describe how you plan to arrange transportation for conference participants to your campus and what facilities will be available to them there. If your invitation indicates a preference for hosting all sessions in the conference hotel, please describe what alternative programming involving your campus might be available to CAMWS attendees.”
3. The Chair of the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion shall be consulted during the process of selecting host institutions.
