The 118th meeting of CAMWS will take place March 23-26, 2022, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the Winston-Salem Marriott and the Embassy Suites at the invitation of Wake Forest University.

Getting to Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem is perfectly situated between

Raleigh (2 hour drive),

Charlotte (1.5 hour drive),

Atlanta (5 hour drive),

and Washington D.C. (5 hour drive).

 

Recent interstate upgrades add to the convenience, with downtown at the crossroads of Interstate 85, Interstate 77, Interstate 40, Salem Parkway (U.S. 421), and U.S. Highway 52. Three international airports are within two hours of Winston-Salem, adding to its convenient location.

 

25 minutes from Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO)

1.5 hours from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)

2 hours from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)

 

AMTRAK

Amtrak stops in Highpoint, NC (HPT) on the Carolinian/Piedmont line between New York and Charlotte, NC. 

From Highpoint, NC (HPT), there is Amtrak Bus service to Winston-Salem, NC, Clark Campbell Transportation Center, 100 West 5th St.

The Clark Campbell Transportation Center is .2 miles from the Winston-Salem Marriott, via Trade St NW, 4th St NW and N Cherry St or via Trade St NW, W 5th St and N Cherry St.

About the Hotels:

           The two hotels are across the street from each other and connected by a covered bridge on the second floor level. Valet parking  and self-parking are available at both hotels.

The Winston-Salem Marriott will have the majority of the meeting rooms.  The room blocks are now closed but you may contact the hotels directly.

The Embassy Suites rate includes free made-to-order breakfast and an evening reception. All rooms are two room suites.  If you prefer to make your reservations by phone at 336.724.2300 and dial 0 when prompted to reach our front desk team.  

Lactation Room:
A Lactation Room will be available throughout the conference in the Marriott as a private space where nursing mothers and parents with small children can attend to their needs, if attendees indicate that it is needed.

Quiet Room:
A Quiet Room will be available in the Marriott throughout the conference for attendees who need a temporary quiet space during the meeting.

 

Gender-Neutral Bathrooms:
A gender-neutral bathroom will be available on the floor with the meeting rooms in the Marriott and in the Ballroom in the Embassy Suites.

 

CAMWS Author Book Display 

CAMWS plans to display recent books by CAMWS authors at the 2022 meeting in Winston-Salem. If you have had a book published in the last three years and would like your book included, you are welcome to bring along a copy to add to the display or have a copy mailed from the press in advance to the CAMWS office at the following address: CAMWS Author Book Display, Watson Memorial Library, RM 313, Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA 71497. You do not have to attend the meeting to have your book displayed.
